Product Comparison
Byoxon vs. Deltek: A Modern Cloud PSA vs. an ERP Suite With On-Prem Roots
This article compares Byoxon (BoB) with Deltek’s project-based products, mainly Vantagepoint and Ajera, for firms choosing between a self-serve cloud PSA and an ERP-grade suite. It covers what Deltek publishes, what third parties estimate for its pricing, and where each option fits.
Deltek sells several products under one name. Vantagepoint is its ERP for architecture, engineering and consulting firms, and Deltek says more than 2,000 companies run on it. Ajera targets small architecture and engineering firms. Deltek Replicon, a time-tracking product, has its own comparison on this site. Older Vision installs are being moved to Vantagepoint.
Byoxon’s product, BeOnBoard (BoB), is one cloud platform for tech, IT and professional-service teams. It combines CRM, time tracking, HR, invoicing and a live project profit-and-loss view. You can start on a free plan for up to 5 users without a credit card.
One correction to the usual framing: “cloud versus on-premises” is not the real split. Deltek says over 80% of Vantagepoint users are on the cloud, and Ajera is sold as a cloud application. The real difference is packaging and start-up effort, and that is what this comparison covers.

The Byoxon angle: a self-serve cloud PSA, not an ERP rollout
Deltek’s on-premises history is real, but it now sits at the edges. Vantagepoint still lists on-premises options, and Deltek is retiring Vision in favour of Vantagepoint. Deltek sells Basic, Plus and Enterprise upgrade packages for Vision customers, with dedicated consultants, training and a post-go-live stabilisation period. A partner, PCI, notes that Deltek has not published a single public end-of-life date for Vision. If you run Vision today, a migration is coming whichever vendor you choose next.
For a firm buying fresh, the question is different. Vantagepoint is an ERP: financials, billing, resource planning, CRM and time and expense in one suite, quoted by module and user count. That breadth is the point, and it is also why starting is a project. Deltek does offer a “Front Office only” path that plugs into an existing financial system, which is a fair middle option.
Byoxon takes the opposite packaging decision. One product, one published rate card, and a free plan you can open today. Time, per-person rates, invoicing and the project P&L share one data model, so a manager sees margin by day, project and person without a rollout plan. The trade is depth: Byoxon hands the books to QuickBooks Online instead of replacing your accounting system.

Pricing in detail
Byoxon publishes one volume rate card, per user per month: $24.95 for 1–10 users, $21.95 for 11–49, $18.95 for 50–199 and $15.95 for 200 or more. The free plan covers up to 5 users with no feature limits.
Deltek publishes no price list for Vantagepoint or Ajera. Pricing depends on modules, user count and deployment, so you need a quote. Third-party data gives a rough range. Vendr’s marketplace data (vendr.com) puts Vantagepoint at $60,000 to $150,000 a year for 30–75 users, plus $40,000 to $120,000 for implementation. Vendr’s median across all Deltek contracts is $20,479 a year (34 purchases, from $9,397 to $70,000), so smaller deals do exist.

The Byoxon range comes from list rates: 30 seats at $21.95 and 75 seats at $18.95, times 12, assuming the tier rate applies to every seat. That is $7,902 to $17,055 a year. The two ranges are not like for like. Deltek’s figure includes ERP accounting, and Vendr’s numbers are estimates from buyer contracts, not Deltek quotes. Treat the gap as a signal about scope and packaging, then get a real quote for your seat count.
Where Deltek is the better choice
Deltek is the stronger pick in several cases, and a fair comparison has to say so.
- You need project-based accounting in the same system. Vantagepoint’s financial management module covers project costs, budgets, billing and month-end close. Byoxon exports invoices to QuickBooks Online instead.
- Your industry is architecture, engineering or consulting. Deltek builds Vantagepoint for those firms and also lists government contracting, construction and aerospace and defense. Byoxon is a general platform for tech, IT and professional-service teams.
- Scale and track record matter. Deltek says 98% of the top 500 architecture and engineering firms use its solutions, and more than 2,000 companies run on Vantagepoint.
- You want a guided rollout. Deltek and its partners sell implementation and upgrade services. Some firms prefer paying for that support over configuring a tool alone.
- You want an AI assistant built in. Deltek offers Dela, an assistant for data retrieval and automated approvals.
If those describe your firm, put Deltek on the shortlist. Byoxon is the wrong tool when the books and the project system must be one product.
Which one fits your firm
Choose Byoxon if you run a services, tech or IT team that wants time, rates, invoicing, CRM and margin in one login, at a published price, with no implementation project. Choose Deltek if you are an architecture, engineering or consulting firm that needs project-based accounting and accepts a quoted, project-style rollout.

Many teams sit between the two. If your accountant already runs the books in QuickBooks and you only need margin visibility, the smaller surface is usually enough. For a heavier comparison, see Byoxon vs. Kantata.
Frequently asked questions
Is Deltek cloud or on-premises?
Both. Deltek says over 80% of Vantagepoint users are on the cloud, and it still lists on-premises options. Ajera is sold as a cloud application. Older Vision installs are being moved to Vantagepoint.
How much does Deltek Vantagepoint cost?
Deltek does not publish prices. Vendr’s marketplace data estimates $60,000 to $150,000 a year for 30–75 users, plus $40,000 to $120,000 for implementation. Your quote depends on modules, users and deployment.
Which Deltek product is closest to Byoxon?
Vantagepoint is the closest, because it combines CRM, resource management, time and expense, and billing. Ajera targets small architecture and engineering firms. For time tracking alone, see our Byoxon vs. Replicon comparison.
Can Byoxon replace Deltek’s accounting?
Not as a full accounting system. Byoxon covers time, invoicing and project P&L, and exports invoices to QuickBooks Online. If you need month-end close and project accounting in one ERP, Deltek is the better fit.
How long does it take to get started with each tool?
Byoxon offers a free plan for up to 5 users with no credit card, so you can start on your own. Deltek starts as an implementation project. We could not find a Deltek-published timeline, so ask Deltek or a partner for a schedule based on your data and modules.
